Description
In the article, “Police Officers in Schools: Effects on School Crime and the Processing of Offending Behaviors,” Na and his co-authors used data from the School Survey on Crime and Safety to examine the impact police in schools have on the levels of school crime and school responses to crime. The authors found that schools with police recorded more crimes involving weapons and drugs and reported a higher percentage of non-serious violent crimes to law enforcement. The authors encourage more research be conducted to assess school safety outcomes when adding police in schools.
