Biography


Victor Kappeler, Professor of Justice Studies at Eastern Kentucky University, is an expert in crime and political economy, social construction of crime, ideology and crime, crime and popular culture and police deviance and corruption.

Kappeler is the Dean of the School of Justice Studies at Eastern Kentucky University. He has consulted with the Department of Justice, the Kentucky Justice and Safety Research Counsel and the United States Air Force. He is an editorial board member of The Global: A Journal of Policy and Strategy and a member of the Kentucky Law Enforcement Counsel. He has received several awards from organizations including Sam Houston State University, the American Society of Criminology and the Lexington, Kentucky Division of Police.

He has been published in academic journals and is the co-author of Community Policing: A Contemporary Perspective, Policing in America and Homeland Security.

Kappeler received his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University, M.S. in Criminal Justice and B.S. in Police Administration from Eastern Kentucky University.
