Biography


Peter Wood, Professor of Criminology and Sociology at Eastern Michigan University and a Senior Editor for the Sociological Inquiry, is an expert in offender decision-making, race and ethnicity and community sociology.

Wood served as a professor at Mississippi State University, the University of Oklahoma and Vanderbilt University. He worked as a research associate at the MSU Center for Computer Security Research and the Mississippi Crime and Justice Research Unit. He served as the president of the United Chapters of Alpha Kappa Delta, Sociology Honor Society and president of the Southern Criminal Justice Association, where he received an award. He is a member of the American Society of Criminology, the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences and the American Sociological Association.

Wood has been published in scholarly journals including the Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency, Punishment and Society and Sociological Inquiry. He co-authored Ranking Correctional Punishments: Views from Offenders, Practitioners and the Public.

He received his Ph.D. and M.A. from Vanderbilt University and B.A. from Muhlenberg College.
