Associate Professor of Criminal Justice, Miami University
Alana Van Gundy, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at Miami University, is an expert in corrections, gender and crime, criminal behavior and punishment.
Van Gundy consulted with numerous local, state and federal jails and penitentiaries, programs for at risk women and local law enforcement agencies. She is an active member of campus and discipline committees as well as the American Society of Criminology, the American Correctional Association and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. Van Gundy received several awards for her work, including honors and recognitions from the YWCA and Cincinnati Magazine.
She has been published in various academic journals and is the author of Feminist Theory, Crime and Social Justice and co-author of Women, Incarceration and Human Rights.
Van Gundy received her Ph.D. in Sociology and M.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati and B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Dayton.
